Ortiz sardines are made a la antigua, the old style, to a recipe dating back to 1824: true sardines from Spain's north coast, cleaned one by one by hand, fried in olive oil and packed with their silver skins on. Tinned sardines are one of the few foods that improve with keeping, growing more tender in the oil. Eat them warm on toast with lemon, or straight from the tin with bread and a sharp salad. 140g tin.
