Visit
18 Barnes High Street, London SW13 9LW.
Five minutes from the river, two from the duck pond. A fishmonger has stood on this corner since 1972. If you know Barnes, you know where we are. If you do not, follow the bridge south, bear right at the pond, and the shop is halfway along the high street on the left. The door is blue. The fish is on the ice.
Hours
The counter is open:
- Tuesday to Saturday: 9am to 4pm
- Sunday and Monday: closed
We close Sunday and Monday because we want to cook on a Sunday, like you. We open fresh on Tuesday. Online ordering opens 01.08.2026.
What a counter visit is like
You come in. The slab is on your right, everything under ice and labelled with what it is. Ask. We pick it for you, scale it, fillet it, pin-bone it, portion it. If you want a whole fish, we wrap it whole. If you want it prepared for the pan, we do that too. No extra charge for the knife work. It is part of what you are buying.
If you are not sure what to cook, tell us who is eating, how many there are and what you feel like. We point you at the right thing. We do this all day. It is the best part of the job.
Click and collect
Order online and collect at the counter. Give your name and your order will be in a labelled bag with your receipt inside. Collection is the same day, about two hours from your order. If you want to add anything while you are here, we can do that too.
Parking
There is no dedicated parking outside the shop, but the Civic Centre car park is two minutes away on foot, on Church Road. On-street parking along the high street is metered and limited to thirty minutes, which is usually long enough for a proper counter visit.
Getting here without a car
Barnes Bridge and Barnes mainline stations are both within a ten-minute walk. The river path brings you in from the north, the common from the south. It is, on the whole, a good walk either way.
The counter is the quickest conversation in Barnes. Come in. Ask what is good. Take some home.
